Travel Insurance Protection

For all guided PowderQuest trips, medical travel insurance is required and trip cancellation insurance is strongly recommended.

Required Medical Insurance
All guests must have medical travel insurance that covers:

  • Emergency medical treatment
  • Hospitalization
  • Medical evacuation for backcountry trips
  • Proof of coverage must be provided before the trip

Trip Cancellation Insurance
We highly recommend purchasing trip cancellation insurance to protect against unexpected pre-trip events such as illness, injury, family emergencies, or travel disruptions.

Our deposit and final payment refund policy stringent. We cannot offer exceptions for cancellations. If you choose not to purchase cancellation insurance, you accept the financial risk of any losses. By booking with us, you acknowledge that you understand and accept this policy.

Recommended Plans
While there are dozens of insurance plans available online, Signature Travel Insurance offered via Global Rescue, fits well with our guided trips.

For Backcountry Trips:

For more complete backcountry coverage check out Global Rescue’s evacuation services offering both short term and annual coverage. Ideally to be combined with the IMG Signature Travel Insurance mentioned above.

Some South American trips involve backcountry skiing at high altitudes. This needs to be covered in your plan if you will be traveling with us on backcountry trips going to Valle Nevado, La Parva, Portillo, Las Lenas, Cajon de Maipo, or Maule.

Yes!  In fact over 50% of our tour guests are solo travelers.

We have proudly been leading trips for over 2 decades. Our Chile and Argentina guided adventures began in July 1999. After years of requests from our VIP alumni travelers, we launched our Japan powder tours in 2014.

Most trips require a 3-4 person minimum to make a trip viable.

Each trip is led by two full-time, guides with expert local knowledge. This allows us to split into smaller ability groups and provide a more personalized experience. (In the rare case of fewer than 4 guests, the trip may be guided by one guide.)

All trip prices, deposits, and cancellation fees are charged in U.S. Dollars (USD). Any prices displayed in other currencies are for reference only and may vary with exchange rates applied by the Client’s bank or credit card provider.

Of course! Join a second PowderQuest tour in a different location or dive deeper into culturally rich Japan or South America.

South America Extensions
From Easter Island, known for the giant stone Moai statues, to the salt flats, volcanoes and geysers of the World’s driest desert, South America is stunning to explore.

Organic vineyards, vibrant Buenos Aires and Santiago, or postcard-worthy Valparaiso on the Pacific Coast, we help you explore the gems of the South.
