Since 2013, our small group guided snowboard and ski tours to Hokkaido cater to advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders looking for a true multi-day cultural and powder chasing adventure; escaping the ski resorts via guided backcountry ski touring and splitboarding.
Leave the logistics and translating to us. Hosting dinners each evening, our Japanese speaking trip host will introduce you to the unique culture and local fare, highlighting true Hokkaido. Only possible traveling with a Japanese speaking guide.

We keep the daily itinerary flexible to optimize the best snow conditions and tree skiing using the resort’s ski lifts, backcountry ski touring / splitboarding, and our private 4×4 vehicles.
After an epic day of legendary Hokkaido ski touring, return each evening to our comfortable hotels featuring muscle soothing onsens before hosted dinner on the town with your guides.
Our Hokkaido ski tours are led by IFMGA/ACMG certified ski guides, a Japanese speaking assistant guide and a maximum of only 6 guests per trip. Solo travelers welcome!

After having been captivated by images of Japanese powder for years, skiing the Hokkaido Backcountry Tour with Powder Quest was a dream come true. The powder skiing in Hokkaido really is as good as you’ve heard, but without guides that can get you to the goods, you could ski nothing but tracked out crud, stand in lift lines and stumble your way through or completely miss fantastic food for your trip of a lifetime.
Our guides knew where to go to get away from the crowds, we skied deep, light untracked snow 5 out of 7 days. The first 2 days were following an extended stormless period, then it started snowing and never stopped. As a cultural experience PowderQuest provided a Japanese guide who’s insights gave our group a behind the scenes view of local customs, cuisine and history which was an unexpected pleasure.
The Furano area is filled with packs of dudes, all strong skiers, guided by mostly non-Japanese and all hunting for pow. Our group skied better snow day after day, ate better food with special attention because of our Japanese speaking guide and skied mostly by ourselves enjoying the spiritual silence of the forest.
This is my third trip with PowderQuest (Chile 1st, Argentina 2nd) and I have 100% percent confidence that when I buck up for a bucket list trip that I will get what I want and be guided by total pros.
