Whether you’re new to ski touring or looking for a more relaxed approach than our standard trips, Backcountry Discovery is your gateway to powder-filled adventures.
Is This for You?
Backcountry Discovery trips are perfect for:
- First-time ski tourers & splitboarders – No touring experience is required, but you should be eager to explore beyond the resort and willing to put in the effort to reach untouched terrain.
- Returning PowderQuest guests who want a different pace – If you’ve joined a trip before but felt like the uphill effort was too much or that you slowed the group down, this is for you. Expect a more approachable pace with daily climbs of 500–600m (1,600–2,000 ft).
- Experienced skiers and riders – You should be comfortable in variable snow conditions, including powder, and able to confidently descend off-piste terrain in a ski resort. Snowboarders must be able to traverse efficiently on both edges.
- Fit for the adventure – You don’t need to be a mountain athlete, but you should be fit enough to hike 6 km (4 miles) with a pack and still enjoy the ride down.
