Our guide Philippe Gautier, just gave us an update from being on the ground in Nevados de Chillan, Chile:
PowderQuest 2014 season opener trip day 2:
Classic Chillan winter storm, starts warm and will finish cold! Today closed above the novicio (1700m) for wind, snow and very limited visibility. Tim’s luggage was sent back to Hong Kong instead of following him to Chile, but we marched on to (2100m)! Up until the cold front smacked us back down. Tomorrow forecast for an afternoon window. That’s right we going back up to Chillan summit (+/-3100m) or bust. Love July in the snow. Freezing level was at 1700m in the am and dropped to below 1500m by midday and still dropping. Ok enough blogging, hot tubs await!
