25-45 feet per ski season is the average Hokkaido snowfall for many of the main ski areas on Japan’s northern island thanks to large storm systems from Siberia that cross the Sea of Japan dropping deep light powder across the island.
PowderQuest will be providing snowfall reports as the Japanese ski season approaches and of course blog and social media updates from our guided Japan ski and snowboard tours running in January and February around the island of Hokkaido.
Hokkaido’s first snowfall of 2015
We have put together some snow images from the first snowfall in Hokkaido’s ski resorts and backcountry zones including Tokachidake, Furano, Tomamu and Asahidake. It’s only October, but we hope this is a sign of more to come as the ski season in Japan approaches.
