Here is a collection of some of the best snowboarding and skiing videos on YouTube and Vimeo filmed and edited by PowderQuest trip guests in Chile, Argentina and Japan. Check back often as we will be adding more cool skiing videos.
While the edits don’t compete with what you watch from the Powder Awards, we love seeing these home edits from stoked guests exploring the planet with us in search for fresh snow.
Pop some corn and let’s get started!
Chad Williams has done 3 snowboarding trips with PowderQuest Tours. Two freeriding in Chile and one most recently in beautiful Patagonia, Argentina. Chad puts together some cool snowboarding videos on YouTube and really captures the fun and camaraderie of the guided groups. The YouTube video here is from 2019 on our new advanced off-piste tour called the 7 Lakes. We visited San Martin de Los Andes, Bariloche and a remote backcountry sled zone called Mallin Alto.
We like his song choice from New Zealand’s Leisure and reached out to ask him why he chose it:
“Typically when I listen to the radio a song comes on that really speaks to us. I had been waiting to use this one for a snowboard trip as it has that slow vibe that I thought would lend itself well to our trip. Another really cool thing that happens is anytime I hear a song from a video I’ve made, I go right back to that memory. The song then always is that specific trip. It’s pretty cool.”
When it comes to cool skiing videos, Sage Cattabriga-Alosa has his fair share out there in Vimeo and YouTube. While many are high budget edits with the help of Teton Gravity Research, The North Face, Atomic and Smith Optics, he has some smaller homemade productions that are very cool and some of the best skiing videos on Vimeo.
After recovering from an Achilles injury, Sage called PowderQuest up to help him put together logistics and local scouting for a “comeback” trip in Chile. He brought friend and filmer Andrew Orlich to document and share in the adventure. Here is the result. “Por Que Esquiar” based in Ski Arpa, El Colorado, La Parva and Valle Nevado. How much fun do you think David and Andrew had riding behind Sage watching that smooth style turn every rock into a natural hit?
Armed with his splitboard and DJI Mavic Air, LG V30, GoPro Hero 5 and some great editing skills, Tom really captured the trip well. Especially in the backside of Cerro Catedral near Bariloche and steep chutes in Cerro Bayo. How about that drone shot looking towards 11,450 foot Mt. Tronador 92 seconds in?! PowderQuest alumni Jim and Jacob are also featured.
We recently stumbled upon this Japan snowboarding edit from Sergio. Look at that deep snow! This was Sergio’s 2nd of 3 guided tours with us to Japan. 2 trips to Hokkaido (2017 and 2018) and 1 to Hakuba (2019). The 10 minute video on Vimeo highlights the best of our popular 8-day backcountry tour in Hokkaido from Otaru to Furano with plenty of powder, touring and amazing Japanese culture. Well done Sergio.
Trond has joined us for several ski trips in the Andes over the past decade. From Patagonia Argentina to the high Central Andes, home to our 12-day Frontier to Las Lenas backcountry ski tour featured here on YouTube. We love his chill slow motion edit capturing the steep skiing of Las Lenas. Oh and Trond’s song selection! The tune has been on constant loop recently on our Spotify playlist.
Amanda joined us in 2014 for a guided trip in Argentina. She tells us the trip changed her and has since returned to Patagonia in Autumn for a trekking adventure around Catedral with perfect weather. Rumor has it she will be joining us again this summer, perhaps in Chile for a backcountry tour. Thanks for the clip Amanda!
