After this weekend’s snow storm dropping 2-3 plus feet of snow on most of South America, we have a collection of images along with info on opening dates for Las Lenas, Chapelco, Cerro Bayo and Cerro Catedral.
Las Lenas – 3 Feet
Our amigo Jose Beccar spent time this weekend roaming the Las Lenas village during and after the snow storm collecting photos. Jose is reporting 25 inches at the base and 40 inches mid-mountain. Certainly more fell up higher, but no one has really gotten up there to take an accurate total. For now some pictures.
Next Stop: Patagonia, Argentina – 2 Feet
The storm was a large one extending from north of Santiago, Chile (photos) all the way into deep Patagonia. Schools were closed as deep snow pilled up across every main ski area of the Andes.
PowderQuest ski guide Maxi Artoni and his pro snowboard amigo Nico Fuentes are fortunate to call Patagonia home. San Martin de Los Andes where they both grew up is home to one of Argentina’s top ranked ski areas, Cerro Chapelco and a place we often call home during the South America ski season.
Maxi and Nico ski toured up Chapelco yesterday for some powder turns on a graybird day.
We invite you to check out our guided adventures visiting Chapelco
